Get your new amount early: opt in to digital notices by November 18
If you have a my Social Security account, you can see your 2027 amount online up to three weeks before the letter arrives.
Why opt in?
SSA sends COLA notices by mail every December. If you switch to digital (electronic) notices, you can see your new monthly amount in your my Social Security inbox about three weeks before the paper letter lands on your doorstep. That gives you more time to plan ahead — especially if you want to see how your Medicare Part B premium deduction affects your net benefit.
How to opt in
- Go to ssa.gov/myaccount and sign in (or create an account).
- Go to Settings and then Notification Preferences.
- Turn on Electronic notifications.
You must opt in before November 18, 2026 to receive your COLA notice online. After that date, SSA begins generating the mailed notices and the window closes.
Log in to my Social Security and turn on electronic notices. It takes less than two minutes.
Log in to my Social SecurityWhat if I don't have a my Social Security account?
You can create one at any age if you are a US citizen or lawful resident with a Social Security number. You will need to verify your identity — SSA uses Login.gov or ID.me. Your paper notice will still arrive by mail if you do not opt in.
Will my notice show the Medicare deduction?
Yes. If Medicare Part B is deducted from your payment, your COLA notice will show both your gross benefit (before the premium) and your net payment (after the premium). The 2027 Part B premium is not yet set; the notice will show the 2026 figure of $185/month and may be updated when the 2027 figure is announced.
